8 Super foods to increase sperm count naturally

It takes two to tango, and it takes two to make a baby. It’s just as important for that man to make lifestyle changes, as it is for the woman. Having a high sperm count can increase your chances of conceiving naturally, and having healthy sperm is vital for a healthy, happy pregnancy and baby. With this in mind, I have pulled together a list of the EIGHT top super foods a man should include in his diet if the couple are trying for a baby.


These eight super foods are proven to increase sperm count naturally, and increase the quality of the sperm.


OYSTERS -

Whilst commonly known to increase libido (which is handy if you’re trying for a baby … ), this super seafood is also very high in zinc. Having a zinc rich diet has been found to increase testosterone, sperm count and sperm motility. Why not have a date night and feed each other oysters … not only will it get you in the mood, but it’ll ramp up your man's sperm count. Win, win I say!


ORANGES, STRAWBERRIES, PAPAYA -

Full of Vitamin C, and we all know Vitamin C is very good for us in many ways, but when it comes to sperm this super vitamin can help protect the sperm from oxidative damage, and it can help the quality of sperm for the smokers among us (although I would advise quitting smoking rather than eating more oranges!).

DARK, LEAFY VEGETABLES

Full of folate, also known as Vitamin B, chomping on dark leafy greens like spinach is known to help produce high quality sperm, and lot’s of it!


DARK CHOCOLATE

A great one, as it’ll curb those cravings for sugar and sweets. Dark Chocolate contains arginine, an amino acid that can improve sperm count and quality overtime. Try and eat a small piece each night after dinner.


RAINBOW TROUT AND SALMON

The omega-3 fatty acids found in these fish are known to improve the quality and quantity of sperm. They’re also rich in CoQ10 which acts as an antioxidant protecting the sperm cells from damage.


NUTS

The selenium found nuts, mostly Brazil nuts, can help increase sperm count, sperm shape and sperm motility. Try adding nuts to your smoothies or sprinkling over your cereal in the mornings.


WATER FOR HYDRATION

Staying hydrated is essential for all of us, so I’d advise you all to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. In terms of sperm, it helps create a good seminal fluid.


When both of you follow a healthy, balanced diet and switch up your lifestyles for the better, you’ll be amazed at how quickly you may fall pregnant.
